success
In less than two years since our founding, Young Spirit Foundation has moved quickly to establish a wide network of relationships in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the country, to focus discussion on how education forms values and identity. Here is a brief overview of our accomplishments during that time:
• presence at 14 regional, national, and international conferences
• workshop facilitation at the Carry the Vision conference, the United Religions Initiative Young Leaders Retreat, and the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning
• six dialogues for parents, teachers, and community leaders to envision new principles for education
• a World Cafe for Parents, in which over 25 people gathered to consider how education could really serve teenagers
• an inaugural event for teachers and parents, held at San Francisco's One Fort Mason, featuring six speakers on the theme “Bringing Forward Wisdom in Adolescence”
• a youth leader luncheon cosponsored by Unity Palo Alto Church, in which local organizers considered the many dimensions of youth development
• a partnership with Institute of Noetic Sciences and Metta Center for Nonviolence Education to establish a regional network of teachers committed to transformation of the self and society
• four Days of Interfaith Youth Service involving over 100 young people in the Bay Area, taking action for the common good and entering dialogue about the values that inspire them
• two digital story projects expressing young people's values and identity
• press coverage for one of our events in the San Mateo County Times
• a summer internship for developing our youth network and programs
• a vision and plan for a charter high school in Silicon Valley based on meaning, relationship, and self-awareness
• 501c(3) tax-exempt status recognized by the Internal Revenue Service
