Two years ago Young Spirit Foundation was created to answer the need for young people to find meaning, explore relationships, and develop self-awareness in their lives. We know this can happen best within a full academic program that also prepares students for college and professional careers. We are preparing to launch such a program in the next two years, beginning at the middle/high school level.

The Summer Interns will serve 2-3 days per week as an important resource team in the early phase of developing a public charter school in Silicon Valley. They will play a key role in identifying and documenting elements of the school program as well as engaging in outreach to inform people of this exciting initiative.

Learn by doing

Interns will gain experience in many areas of educational practice: curriculum development, community partnerships, local outreach, teaching theory and pedagogy, administration, and charter school organization. The program will include assigned readings and discussion.

Only two or three well-qualified applicants will be accepted. We are seeking independent, motivated people with articulate reading, writing, and communication skills and an interest in education as a career. Web building knowledge is also a great benefit, but not necessary. The minimum age for this program is 16.

Our location is in Mountain View. Internships will last for 6-8 weeks, with a flexible start date.

Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis starting April 1, 2010. The final deadline to be considered for this program is May 15.
